Coffee and Chia Protein Power Ball Mixture Reviewed August 14 2015

These Funch Coffee and Chia Protein Balls are the perfect accompaniment (or replacement) to your morning coffee. They have a delicious mocha flavour, which comes from the clever combination of raw cacao powder and ground coffee. If you suffer from mid morning food cravings these could be your answer. They will leave you feeling satisfied and are a great alternative to a chocolate bickie.

Great news is that they are refined sugar free, with the sweetness coming from the natural sugars in the dates. The best part is you control the level of sweetness by how many dates you add.

Coffee is widely known for its ability to give us an energy boost and raw cacao for its amazing antioxidant levels. Chia seeds are packed with vitamins and minerals including omega 3. Omega 3 is an unsaturated fatty acid essential for brain functioning. Unsaturated fats are the ‘good fats’, vital for a variety bodily functions and disease prevention.

I made my Coffee, Choc and Chia balls a little bit naughty by giving them a dark chocolate coating. Choose a chocolate with at least 70% cocoa, preferably sugar free. Simply melt some dark chocolate in the microwave and add a teaspoon of coconut oil. Dip the protein balls in the chocolate, using a fork to drain the excess. Place on baking paper and set in the fridge. Yummm!
